THE IRISH SHOWS ASSOCIATION & THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE PRESENTS THE BREEDER’S CHOICE CONTINENTAL 4* OR 5* BREEDING HEIFER

RULES AND CONDITIONS

  1. The competition will be run at every show that has cattle classes.
  2. This competition is open to all Continental / Traditional Genotype 4* or 5* heifers, suitable to make a Suckler Cow.
  3. Heifers may be in-calf or maiden. All heifers must be between 12 months and 24 months of age on the date of the show.
  4. Each heifer can attend up to five shows. If a heifer enters more than five shows, she will automatically be disqualified.
  5. All heifers must be haltered trained and led by a competent adult.
  6. The foregoing rules should be read in conjunction with ISA General Rules Page 126 ISA Yearbook

Cattle - Opening Notes

Judging starts at 11am. NO ENTRIES WILL BE TAKEN ON THE DAY FOR ANY CLASS 

ALL CATTLE MUST BE UNLOADED IN THE DESIGNATED HOLDING PEN

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The committee of Tullow Agricultural Show reserve the right to replace prize money with vouchers/product to the equivalent value. Prizes may be forfeited if winning exhibits are removed before 3pm. See Rule 9. Where there are insufficient entries the committee have the right to amalgamate or cancel the class and refund the entry fee.

  • The EDWARD P. O' BYRNE MEMORIAL CUP will be awarded to the Best Animal in the Cattle Section with a Co. Carlow address
  • BANK OF IRELAND PERPETUAL CUP and €100 will be presented to the Supreme Champion in the Cattle Section

ALL CATTLE TO BE LED                      JUDGING TO COMMENCE AT 11AM

IDENTITY CARD MUST ACCOMPANY NON PEDIGREE CALF. NO PEDIGREE OR TATTOOED CATTLE ALLOWED 

  • JOHN TIMMINS MEMORIAL CUP will be awarded to the Champion 
  • H.C. BURGESS MEMORIAL CUP will be awarded to the Reserve Champion
  • FIRST NATIONAL BUILDING SOCIETY CUP will be awarded to the Best Commercial Male Calf
  • NOLAN PERPETUAL CUP will be awarded to the Best Commercial Female Calf
  • MORRIN CUP will be awarded to the Best Beef Heifer with no Permanent Teeth
